Friday Five

Five random thoughts for this Friday evening….

1.  My black cat, Elune…Elly…tried to kill HC’s remote control helicopter that my mom got him for Christmas a couple years ago.  Just now.  She kicked it off the top of the 7ft tall bookcase.  He doesn’t know yet.  He’s walking the dog.  I have left the evidence on the office floor.

2.  There has been one adorable onesie that I have wanted to get DC into since I got it.  My friend gave it to her at the Baby Shower.  It’s this cute thing covered in alternating thin horizontal stripes of hot pink, lime green, bright blue, yellow, light pink….some black I think…and it has a hot pink fabric rose on the upper left-hand chest area.  It’s just so bright and non-baby colors.  I LOVE it.  The thing is, it says it’s newborn.  When my tiny baby could only fit in newborn clothing for the first 6 weeks, I put this thing on her.  It came down to her knees!  That’s not newborn!  So I’ve waited it out.  Finally, now that she’s in 3 month sizes, the thing FITS.  She is wearing it now.  So cute!

3.  Blue Man Group is next weekend!  I am SO GEEKED OUT!  Second row tickets!  We get to wear rain gear!  And HC is taking me to dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe!  Where I can feed my pin obsession!  (Shut up.  I collect Hard Rock Cafe and Disney pins.  They’re shiny.  They don’t take up much space.  And they’re shiny. )

4.  I was scoping out Target tonight, in the Halloween section.  Not for costumes.  I have to order something for DC, because nobody carries wee-tiny baby sizes in the stores.  No, I was scoping out the decorations.  Every year I want to decorate my outside for Halloween, and I never do.   Oh I decorate the inside up a bit.  But I can never find what I like for the outside.  This year I was really wanting to get some lights for outside.  I had 2 packages of green, purple, and orange LED lights in my cart.  Then I put them down at the last minute.  I thought once I had the formula, milk, weight watchers breakfast sandwiches, laundry detergent, and my WoW prepaid game card, the cost of the lights was just too much on top of that.  Sigh.  Some day.

5.  I am behind in the laundry.  I wanted to play some WoW.  I have my mage that’s still not 80, and I have a baby Pally that I really wanted to get up closer to 80 before Cataclysm.   But am I doing that?  No.  I have to play the responsible adult and wash the baby bedding that was the victim of a leaky diaper last night.  And I’m out of comfy fleecy pants.  I can’t start the weekend with all my fleecy pants dirty.  That won’t do at ALL.  So…off I go.  Where’s my wash basket….

Friday Five

I haven’t done a Friday Five blog in AGES.  So it’s time.  Besides, this is about all that my tired brain can handle right now.

1.  For some reason, there seems to be a shortage in my town of infant gas relief drops.  Could that be because 3 members of my family have infants?  Probably not.  But I’m getting a little tired of having to drive all over town just trying to locate a refill.  (Walgreen’s for the WIN.)  When I found them, I bought every stinkin’ bottle they had.  (Which means 2.)

2.  I’m trying to figure out how to bundle up DC as the weather turns colder.  (Forecasted low for Sunday night…39.)  My bff suggested the Bundle Me.  I like to read product reviews on these things, but I can’t find any official reviews from any consumer our safety testing outlets.  Rather, I find alot of word-of-mouth negative reviews.  But they’re either “my friend knows this girl who said this cop told her it wasn’t safe.”  Or, better yet, they talk about taking the bundle me out of the carrier and how it left the carrier straps too loose.  Ok.  I know we have college degrees here, and HC IS an engineer…but seriously?  Do these people not tighten the straps every time they put their kid into the carrier?  Ugh.  People drive me insane.  Why do I read these things?

3.  Speaking of reading…my Kindle is charging in the other room.  I’m so excited.  And its new leather case came too.  Leather.  I love leather.  It’s like the draw of a new purse.   I’m just beyond geeked out.

[Dammit.  Dog is staring at me.]

4.  I took a lunchtime seminar offered at work the other day.  It was on coding applications for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad.  Let me say…it’s very cool looking.  Let me also say, I still would love to have an iPad.  Let me also say…and those techy of you will follow me here…to code for these, you have to have a Mac.  There’s no windows emulator.  I also found out that if a Mac is compiling a program and it sees it’ll take a long time and decides it needs help, it will scan for other Macs in the vicinity and farm out some of the work to those Macs.  I have a HUGE problem with this.  So we’ll just say, while I may someday get an iPad, I won’t be programming for one anytime soon.  I haven’t touched a Mac in over 20yrs.  This stuff just adds to why I don’t like Apple as a company.

[Ok, now the dog is laying on the floor here doing his "I am a starving pug.  You are starving me.  I'm wasting away before your eyes" routine.  FYI - He had dinner at 4:30pm.]

5.  I am very bummed.  I just found out that one of my favorite Scrap-Celebrities….the person who made the first podcast I ever listened too, even if I caught it right as she pod-faded….the person who’s book I bought….who’s blog I’ve been reading and wondering where she went when she blog-faded….I found out that she has apparently set up a cool new scrapbooking online site.  The problem?  $9.95/month.  Or $100/year.   Um.   That seems a little steep to me.  So I won’t be participating.  Very sad.  :(

[HC just opted to save me and feed the dog.]

Ok.  So well, that’s what’s going on in my brain for the past hour or so.  Now I guess I’ll go set up to give DC a bath.  She started this new thing this week…..let’s scream bloody murder for 45min after the bath is over.  Not during.  No she’s fine then.  And not immediately after.  No, let’s wait 5min or so and then BLAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!   She’s done it twice this week.  We’ll see if this continues this evening.  I know…you envy me, I’m sure.
